Individual Student Planning are activities the counselor does to help individual students meet their personal goals and plans. These goals can be academic, career and social/personal. They are encouraged to evaluate the success of the goals with their counselor. Individual planning with students is done in two ways;
- Individual or small-group appraisal: counselors work with students evaluating students’ abilities, interests, skills and achievement. The counselor uses test information and other data to help students develop immediate and long-range planning.
- Individual or small-group advisement: school counselors advise students using personal/social, educational, career information in planning for their future. The involvement of parents and/or guardians in this planning process in important.
