These activities make sure that we maintain and enhance our counseling program here at Judson Middle. Counselors use their leadership skills and participating in the following areas;
Professional Development- Our school counselors are expected to update their skills by attending professional conferences and meetings. They keep up on the latest counseling materials and new areas of concern in the school and community by reading and contributing to professional literature.
Consultation, Collaboration and Teaming-Counselors must work with teachers, staff members, parents and community agencies often in order to support the constantly changing needs of the students. They must also work with outside organizations such as the local media to bring social concerns to public attention. The counselors are active members of advisory counsels and district committees to make sure that the needs of our students are being heard.
Program Management- The counselor is responsible for managing the counseling budget and the facilities. They are also responsible for maintaining correct policy and procedure in-line with school and district policy. They use data analysis to ensure student’s needs are being met and to discover gaps of students whose needs are not being addressed adequately.
